photo-volunteerVolunteering with Shakespeare Festival St. Louis

Shakespeare Festival St. Louis depends on hundreds of volunteers each year working in the park, in the office, and on special events and projects. Volunteering with the Festival is a fun, social, and rewarding way to support one of St. Louis’ leading arts organizations with your most precious gift: your time.  We welcome you to join us, whether for one night or the entire season!

One-Time or New Volunteers

If you’ve never volunteered with us before, or just want to come help out one night in Shakespeare Glen, welcome! Many of our volunteer opportunities are open to the public, especially pre-show shifts in Forest Park. Click here to learn more and sign up!

Current Friends’ Opportunities

Friends are needed to act as Ushers for our In the Works Festival of New Plays, at The Grandel Theater in midtown St. Louis now through November 24.  Enjoy three new plays by playwrights in dialogue with Shakespeare, and help support SFSTL!  Click here to sign up, and read our In The Work Volunteer Guide here.  Questions? Email volunteers@sfstl.com.

Become a Friend!

Friends of Shakespeare Festival St. Louis is the volunteer group that serves the Festival on a year-round basis. Friends assist Festival staff with:

Audience Services: volunteers are essential to creating a rich experience for the audience each season at the mainstage production in Shakespeare Glen, Forest Park, and provide support for events such as SHAKE 38 and Shakespeare in the Streets. As a Face of the Festival, Friends engage with our guests and help make them feel at home.  Click here to read 2018 SFSTL Shakespeare Glen Volunteer Manual.

Hospitality: volunteers assist with key Festival events including the spring Friends Kickoff, scheduled this season for May 30, 2018. During the Festival, Hospitality Specialists may help out of town company members with their day-to-day needs, assist staff with small events, and partner with volunteers from the National Charity League on the pre-show Family Art Activities.

Office: volunteers assist staff with mailings, data entry, and other administrative tasks such as answering the phones during the mainstage run.  You can schedule regular hours in the office or help on a “one and done” basis.

Group Volunteering in Shakespeare Glen

The mainstage Festival in Shakespeare Glen is a major undertaking.  The only way we can bring four weeks of free, professional, outdoor theatre to St. Louis is with the help of over 600 volunteers each season!  Group volunteers are needed to work alongside Friends, assisting Festival staff with audience services and helping create a cheerful, safe, and friendly ambience.  Volunteering with your Group in Shakespeare Glen is fun, social, rewarding, and a great way to support one of the area’s leading arts institutions! For more details, download the 2018 Group Volunteer Information Sheet, or email volunteers@sfstl.com to learn more.
